IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jesus "Jesse"
Guillermo Rodriguez
December 20, 1949 – January 23, 2025
Jesus "Jesse" Guillermo Rodriguez, 75, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025. He was born on December 20, 1949, in Webb County, Texas, to Jesus and Ninfa Rodriguez and was raised in Robstown, Texas.
Jesse graduated from Robstown High School and went on to serve his country with honor as a United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1974. Achieving the rank of Lance Corporal E3, Jesse was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Medal. He proudly served as an honor guard for President Nixon, a role that highlighted his commitment and dedication to excellence.
Jesse married the love of his life, Victoria Avalos, with whom he shared 20 cherished years. A devoted husband, father, and visionary entrepreneur, Jesse left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Jesse was a man of many talents and a relentless innovator. As the president of 102.9 Da Bomb, he helped bring urban hip-hop and R&B to life on the airwaves for about 3 decades and counting. His entrepreneurial spirit shone in every venture he pursued, from his first bar in Robstown, Texas, to creating the iconic Thunderbird Flea Market in Corpus Christi, which featured a beer garden and a sense of community. He also launched the Stardust Flea Market, the Yellow Rose Convention Center, Tejano Rose, Club Hypnotic, The Vault Nightclub, and Club Cielo, just to name a few. Jesse's legacy is one of bold vision, hard work, and endless creativity.
Jesse's passions extended beyond his business ventures. He loved working on his home and ranch, mastering the barbecue pit, decorating for the holidays, and spending precious time with his family. Music was another of his great loves, a passion he carried with him throughout his life.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Ninfa Rodriguez; his sisters, Linda Mae Gonzalez and Ninfa "Cookie" J. Rangel; and his beloved son, Robert "Bob" Guillermo Rodriguez.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Victoria Avalos; his loving daughters, Victoria Rodriguez, Cielo Rodriguez, and Roxanne Rodriguez; his sister, Mary Lee Rodriguez; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Jesse's legacy is one of love, resilience, and vision. He touched countless lives and will be remembered as a trailblazer, a family man, and a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
