Dana "Duke" Lee Mroz was called home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2021 at the age of 68. He was born in Buffalo, New York on July 25, 1952 to Jeanne and Henry "Hank" Mroz. After enlisting in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1969, he retired in Corpus Christi, TX after 20 years of service. He picked up his favorite hobbies of fishing and hunting and considered himself a Texan at heart, spending almost all of his adult life here in Texas.

Duke was always the life of the party and loved celebrating holidays and having barbecues with his loved ones. He was a social butterfly and loved being around people, having conversations with everyone he met, and mostly just loved to have a good time. He was a collector his entire life of things like vinyl albums, motorcycles, and John Wayne memorabilia. He was a die hard John Wayne fan since he was young, which is how he got his nickname "Duke".

Duke made an impression on everyone he met and despite having a willingness to tell it like it is due to his New Yorker roots, he had a big heart and was loved deeply by many friends and family. He is preceded in death by his parents Jeanne and Hank Mroz. He is survived by his three sons Craig Henry Mroz, Travis Justin Mroz, and Cody Lee Mroz (Lexy), his daughter Monica Mroz Davidson (Barrett), stepdaughter Gina M. Duenez (Robert), and 7 grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday April 2, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home - Corpus Christi.
The funeral service will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in Chapel B.
Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
