Obituary

William (Bill) W. Stubbs Jr., age 94, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Bill was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 14, 1927. He attended school in Robstown and was always proud to call himself a "Cotton Picker." After graduating college at Texas A&I Kingsville, he was employed by Perry Farms in Robstown working in their office. He quickly realized he had a knack for accounting.

After a chance meeting at the Corpus Christi, Caller-Times, Bill met the love of his life, Lorene (Rene) Becker, and they were soon married on December 11, 1953. With Rene bringing two children, Wes and Tracy into their family, their new life began. Rene would soon realize that she married more than just Bill, she married his entire family who always remained close. They had a ritual which they observed every Sunday afternoon, having lunch with Bill's large family in Robstown. The most memorable times Bill and Rene had were when his family would get together and share stories about their lives growing up on the farm in Petronila Texas.

Over time two more additions completed the family, Billy, and Scott. Bill was completely devoted to his wife, their children, his family, and his work.

Over the years, Bill would work as the controller for several oil and gas exploration and service companies. He worked several years for Tex-Pen Oil & Gas Corporation, and later Conroe Drilling Company and Mokeen Oil Corporation. After later working for several oil and gas promoters in Corpus Christi, Bill moved on to become the controller of Rockport Yacht and Supply Co. "RYSCO" in Rockport Texas where he became vice president. After leaving RYSCO, he came back to work in the oil and gas industry and Corpus Christi to work for Tana Oil & Gas Corporation as a controller where he retired in 1991 to the Texas Hill Country. After several moves, Rene and Bill move back to Corpus Christi to stay.

Bill is survived by his sons William (Bill) Wyatt Stubbs, III (Pam) of Corpus Christi; Scott Russell Stubbs (Courtney) and granddaughter Kendall Rene of Las Vegas, Nevada; stepchildren Wes Edward Schiwitz (Sally) of Brunswick Georgia and daughter Tracy D. Stuckey of Ingleside: granddaughter Karism Lynn Luke (Dean) and grandchildren Michael and Nathan Luke of Ingleside, Texas and Laura K. Stuckey of Taft Texas.

At Bill's request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.

Internment will be held for both Bill and Rene in Robstown Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, donations might be made to South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, 4421 Agnes, Post Office Box 4766 Corpus Christi, TX 78412, or your favorite charity.
