William "Billy" Ruzicka, age 77, passed away May 12, 2018. He was born in Taylor, Texas on December 7, 1940 to Joe and Bernice Ruzicka. Billy graduated from W.B. Ray high school in 1958 and attended Del Mar College, as well as numerous technical schools. He was married to Sandra "Button" Carter Ruzicka on June 5, 1965. He was a loving husband and father to their two children, Christopher Todd and Lisa Dawn.
At an early age Billy discovered the outdoors through the Boy Scouts of America. This led him to appreciate hunting and fishing. As he got older he started racing modified stock cars. He loved racing and won rookie of the year his first year racing and later won the championship at C.C. Speedway.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Knights of Columbus, and an active member of the St. Pius X Men's Club and the Alhambra Baza Caravan #78. He retired from the Corpus Christi army depot in 1995 after 30 years of service. At that time he was branch chief of the industrial group. While at CCAD he earned the title of Senior Master Craftsman, Zero Defects, and many other awards. During this time he also worked after hours for the Spectrum Corp. servicing baseball, basketball, and football scoreboards all over South Texas.
As busy as he was, he never neglected any of his children's activities, always being there to support them in their endeavors. He also found time to help his friends and neighbors when they need.
Billy is survived by his wife of 54 years, his son, Todd and grandchildren, Franchesca(Ben) Foley, Anastasia (Adrian) Briones, Christopher, William and Olivia; and his daughter, Lisa (Harold) Coates and his grandchildren, Jordan (Hunter) Cockrill, Chase and James, as well as great grandson, Gage.
A rosary will be held at

, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 5620 Gollihar Road. A Memorial Mass will be held at
11:00 a.m.
, with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Please come and celebrate his farewell party.
