William "Bill" Joseph Ward, 67, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away, Friday, October 20, 2017. Bill was born May 7, 1950, in Temple, Texas, to Billy and Merida Ward. He graduated from Radford High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, in 1968 and from the University of Hawaii in 1972. After college, he owned Bill's Molokai Tours on the Island of Molokai. After his sister Linda passed away in 1975, he moved back to Texas and started a career in commercial and residential real estate and various oil and gas projects and ultimately formed REGO Development Company in 1982.
Known for always having a great story and quick to laugh, Bill loved his children and grandchildren very much. His great passions were music and tennis and he left this earth when he had a heart attack after winning his last serve. He will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, treasured and generous friend, keen businessman, music and arts enthusiast, gracious host, astute observer of current events, cultured world traveler, accomplished tennis player, exceptional dancer, and a true gentleman.
Bill is survived by his three children, Elizabeth Ward of Austin, Texas, Austin Ward of Austin, Texas, and Olivia Ward of Corpus Christi, Texas; and three grandchildren, Harper, Hudson, and Hadley Mahan. He was preceded in death by his parents Billy and Merida and his sister Linda Frances Mayfield.
Friends and colleagues are invited to join a celebration of Bill's life at 7:00 pm, Saturday, October 28, at the Executive Surf Club, 306 N Chaparral St, Corpus Christi, one of Bill's favorite local landmarks.
For those who desire to do so, memorial donations may be made to a UTMA for his daughter, Olivia Ward (Fidelity Investments Account Number X50974099), or a charity of their choice.
