Virginia Burton
Corpus Christi, TX
Virginia Burton, age 62, passed peacefully on October 27, 2015 after putting up a heroic fight against cancer. Virginia was born on September 25, 1953 in the Philippines to parents Pacifico and Illuminada Baido.
Virginia married the love of her life, James Daniel Burton, in 1975. They met in the Philippines while James was stationed there for the Navy, at a restaurant named Chopsticks where she worked as a waitress. After heavily pursuing and courting Virginia, they traveled and led an adventurous life as they were stationed all over the world.
Virginia gave birth to three children who had the honor of calling her mom. She was a full time mother, devoted and loyal friend, and became another mother for a select few of her children friends. She had a very generous, caring, and protective spirit. She had a wicked sense of humor and a zest for life.
Virginia loved exploring new places with family and friends. She immensely enjoyed working out and gardening. She delighted in shopping and providing for others.
Virginia had a deep love for the Lord, and lived that love everyday as an example of Christ's love and mercy.
Virginia is survived by her husband James, and her children; daughter Jocelyn, son James, daughter-in-law Lindsey, and fur kid Kara. She is also survived by her mother, as well as many other beloved relatives and close friends.
There will be a service celebrating Virginia's life on Tuesday, November 3rd, at 10:00 a.m.at Waldron Road Baptist Church 2045 Waldron Road in Corpus Christi. Following the service, there will be a procession to Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Burton family is incredibly thankful to all who have helped and prayed the last several months. There will be a Filipino style potluck held at the Burton home to continue the celebration of such an extraordinary woman and life.
