Victoria R.
Rivera
December 23, 1931 – March 22, 2026
Victoria Rodriguez Rivera, our matriarch, 94, passed away on March 22, 2026. She was born on December 23, 1931, to Benito Rodriguez and Luisa Rodriguez in Premont, Texas. She was raised in Ella Ranch and Driscoll, Texas. She was united in marriage to Frank Rivera on January 29, 1948, and they shared five years together.
Victoria Rodriguez Rivera always worked hard all her life to support her children. She worked in the fields picking cotton and vegetables. You name it, she picked it. She worked at the stand in Robstown, Texas, where she was known for her strong work ethic and friendly nature. In addition, she provided ironing services for families in her community, a reflection of her dedication and willingness to help others. Over the years, she held positions at the Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital, Barrera’s Monument and her last employer was Baker Middle School. She loved working there and interacting with all the kids.
She lived and raised her kids in Robstown, Texas for several years where she built and bought her first home. Then in the 70s, she moved and purchased her second home in Corpus Christi, Texas where she resided until God called her home. She devoted her life to her children, raising them with love and care. Though she never remarried, she was blessed with a special surprise later in life - her youngest, Gilbert. She and Gilbert shared an unbreakable bond, living for each other and remaining side by side to the very end. She adored her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The light of her life was her children and they will continue to be now in Heaven watching over everyone she loved.
Victoria had a gift for making her house a welcoming place where everyone felt at home. She loved her roosters, her red lipstick, purses, perfumes and red nail polish. She had a passion for dancing and enjoyed nights out at La Villita in Alice, Texas. She also loved cooking, listening to music, gardening, caring for her plants and watching her favorite shows. She also had a deep love for nature and spent many happy hours in the sunshine.
She was a woman of faith and that’s what got her through life. She lived by her own rules and that was good enough for her. She loved to sing, especially with her brother Ricardo and her mother Luisa. She enjoyed her morning coffee and never missed a day of daily talks with her sister Maria in the morning always. She loved to laugh and crack jokes like no one else.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Benito and Luisa Rodriguez, her husband Frank Rivera and her son Gilberto Rivera.
She is survived by Gilbert Rivera, Terry (Ralph) Perez, Ramiro (Mague) Rivera and Frank (Teri) Rivera Jr, 6 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 6 great granddaughters and 3 great grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, sister Maria Landa and brother Domingo Rodriguez.
