Obituary

Victor Manuel Gonzales, age 67, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 12, 2026, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on December 9, 1958, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Cecilio and Vicenta Gonzales.

Victor lived his life with strength, conviction, and a spirit that was truly his own, and he will be remembered with love by all who knew him. Victor was a devoted Catholic whose faith was an important part of his life. He worked for 36 years at Alamo Concrete as a maintenance mechanic, where he was known for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic. He took pride in his work and carried himself with the same determination in his career that he did in every other part of his life.

Through the years, he earned the respect of his coworkers and those around him by being steadfast, hardworking, and dependable. In his free time, Victor enjoyed hunting and fishing, pastimes that reflected his adventurous nature and love of the outdoors. He especially loved taking trips to the casinos with his family and friends, where he enjoyed good company and the excitement of the moment. These times brought him joy and gave him the opportunity to make lasting memories with the people he loved most. He lived life boldly and without apology, always true to himself and his beliefs.

Victor was one of a kind. He was bold, assertive, and unapologetically himself throughout his entire life. He was passionate about his beliefs and never afraid to stand his ground, always convinced he was right, and more often than not, he was. Beneath that tough exterior was a heart that loved fiercely and completely, sometimes to a fault. He cared deeply for his family and friends, and when he loved you, he loved you with his whole being. Those who knew him best will remember his honesty, his loyalty, and the unmistakable presence he brought into every room.

Victor is preceded in death by his parents, Cecilio and Vicenta Gonzales; brother, Cecilio Gonzales Jr.; nephew, Eric Joe Rodriguez; and his dearest longtime friend, Cesario Ledesma Jr. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life, and now they are reunited in eternal peace.

Victor is survived by his sisters, Mary Soto and her husband Carlos, Gloria Flores and her husband Ernest, Vicki Gonzales and her husband Jesse Benavidez, Cynthia Gonzales, and Sandy Gonzales; his honorary son, his nephew Johnny Joe Rodriguez and his wife Evelynn; his godson, Josiah Cecilio Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory and the many ways he touched their lives.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the caregivers and staff of Tribute Hospice, Christus Home Health, and Dr. Aftab Mahmood for their compassionate care and support. Their kindness brought comfort during a difficult time and will always be remembered with gratitude.

Sleep well, dear brother. Your fight on earth may have ended, but your spirit will forever soar among us.

Victor Manuel Gonzales will be remembered for his adventurous heart, his unwavering presence, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
