Obituary

Vern Mack Taylor Sr. was born December 17, 1940 in Longview, Texas. He passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was reunited with his late wife Karen Taylor.

He's survived by his 7 children; Michelle Yvonne Taylor, Michael Ray Taylor, Vern Mack Taylor Jr (Sonny) Christina Dawn Taylor, Jeffrey Allen Taylor, Shelia Caye Taylor, and Melanie Denise Taylor.

He was a devoted man of God, husband, father, Grandpa, brother, and son. Mack was a truly gifted musician and artist. He loved to tell jokes to everyone he'd talked to. Born to Doris and Park Taylor. He had three siblings; Richard Park Taylor, Sharon Lea Chatterton, and Kathy Leatherwood. He grew up picking cotton in the summertime with his siblings in Bishop, Texas. Mack was in the first graduating class of Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mack was an exceptional salesman and won many awards and adopted the nickname "Macatak". He had an incredible passion for art and music. He spread the Gospel of Jesus through his music and gave it a Texas Swing twist. He traveled all over the country touching many with his music. There was not one person he came into contact with that he didn't minister to and crack jokes with. He was always a kind and generous man who would give you the shirt off his back. Mack was a family man through and through. Even though his children were spread out, he loved them all equally and wanted nothing more than for them to have a relationship with God. His faith was most important to him. Mack and his family attended Venture Church (previously known as Cathedral of the Palms) under the teachings of Pastor Gloria Farjardo for over 30 years. On occasion, Mack would get up on stage and sing his songs. Usually after he'd finished writing one. He sang at the church's Easter events and homeless reach outs. Mack was loved by many and will be forever missed. He has made heaven his home but his legacy will live on earth forever.  Eighty-three amazing years on earth, an eternity in heaven. Mack fought the good fight till the end. He always kept his spirit up, till Jesus came to bring him home.

We personally invite all family, and friends of Mack Taylor to come and celebrate a life well lived. A Celebration of Life will be held at Venture Church 3401 S Alameda St, Corpus Christi, TX on August the Third at 1 o'clock.
