Obituary

Vasilios Hartofilax Talarantas, 23, fell asleep in the Lord, on September 1, 2023.

Vasilios was born on September 1, 2000 to Michael and Joann Talarantas in Corpus Christi, Texas. Vasilios is survived by his loving parents, sister, Anastasia, twin brother, Konstantinos and God-Mother, Maria Moskonas. Vasilios was preceded in death by his grandparents Konstantinos and Fotini Talarantas and Vasilios and Anastasia Hartofilax.

Vasilios graduated from Veterans Memorial High School in June 2019 and attended Del Mar College where he earned his associates degree in business. His ultimate goal was to follow in his father's and his grandfather's footsteps and one day become a successful restaurateur.

Vasilios was a pious and devout Orthodox Christian. He was an active parishioner at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Vasilios participated in various ministries at Saint Nicholas which include, but are not limited to, serving as an acolyte, participating in Sunday School, GOYA, the Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, the dance program and be also loved to volunteer at the annual Greek Festival every year. Along with Saint Nicholas, Vasilios also visited many monasteries in the USA and Greece, many of which he would visit with his God - Mother, Maria Moskonas. Vasilios's faith was a core value and epicenter of his life which often times lead him to challenge himself and persevere in his endeavors.

Vasilios was also an active member at Saint George's Society of Corpus Christi. Vasilios loved to spend time at the Spoitiko Spiti with friends and family and aways enjoyed supporting the organization and its endeavors to help aide Vasilios's homeland of Spoa, Karpathos, Greece.

Vasili leaves behind many, his parents and siblings, among the first, whom he loved and supported, wholeheartedly and unceasingly. His bond with his parents and siblings was like no other. Selfless, always, Vasilios was inseparable from his siblings, growing and building together their hopes and dreams, working to live up to their goals, with their faith in God as motivation.

Loved by all in his family, friends and communal circles, Vasilios, leaves behind a legacy of gracing people with his endless love, his honesty, humor, politeness, sincerity, his charitable and philanthropic deeds, and his kind spirit.

Vasilios's departure from this world, although headed to a better one, leaves his family and friends with a void and deep sorrow. He will be remembered by many and the memories of him will live on forever, and they will be cherished, by all those who knew him.

On behalf of the family, all Funeral Services will take place on September 7 and September 8, 2023.

The viewing will be held on September 7, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home located at, 5922 Crosstown Access Road, Corpus Christi, TX from 4-7 pm with a Trisagion Service at 6:00 pm.

The funeral service will take place on September 8, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on South Chaparral Street, Officiating Fr. John Hayden Haby of Houston, Fr. George Livaditis of Bridgeport, Connecticut and Fr. Thomas Bartz of Corpus Christi.

The interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, where Vasilios will be laid to rest near his beloved grandparents Vasilios and Anastasia Hartofilax.

Reception will follow the committal service, at Holiday Day Ballroom, 707 N. Shoreline Blvd. Corpus Christi, Texas 78401

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations should be made directly to the family, where they will determine at a later date where it will be donated in Vasilios memory.
