Bernard Vincent Greene, affectionately known as Van to his friends and family, was a beacon of light and wisdom to all who knew him. Born on January 17, 1951, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Vin's journey on this earth concluded on December 17, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. His life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and dedication.

Van was a proud graduate of The Citadel, where he completed his education in 1973, embodying the values of honor, duty, and respect. He furthered his academic journey at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, graduating in 1997 and leaving a lasting impact through his commitment to lifelong learning.

After his time at The Citadel, Van served our nation with distinction in the United States Air Force from 1973 until 1986, a period during which he exemplified the virtues of courage and patriotism. His service to the nation was a source of great pride for him and his family. Following his military career, Van dedicated himself to the field of education, retiring in 2020 as an educational diagnostician. His passion for helping others realize their potential was evident in every student he mentored and every life he touched.

A devout Christian, Van grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, and carried his faith throughout his life. His involvement in the church was a cornerstone of his existence. He found joy in singing in the choir at the Good Shepherd Church and was a familiar face to those in need, volunteering at Mother Teresa's Shelter with unfaltering commitment.

Van's interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. He was a master craftsman, channeling his intelligence and thoughtfulness into every piece of woodwork he created. These creations stand as a testament to his meticulous nature and his desire to bring beauty into the world.

He was a man of deep intelligence, always ready to engage in thoughtful conversation, and his faith-filled spirit was an inspiration. Van lived his life with a gentle strength that drew others to him, and his guidance was sought by many.

Van is preceded in death by his loving parents, Bernard and Mary Greene, and his sister, Claire Greene.

Van leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his beloved wife, Pamela Greene; son, Jason Greene; daughter, Leah Gillam, and her husband, John Gillam. His siblings, Robin Parker, Gregory Greene, and Toni Wilson, will miss him dearly, as will his four cherished grandchildren, Cuinn Greene, Klara Greene, Vincent Gillam, and Lexie Gillam, who will carry forward his lessons of kindness and generosity.

Van's life was a beautiful symphony of service, love, and faith. As we remember him today, we celebrate the profound impact he had on each of us. His memory will continue to inspire us to live with purpose and compassion.
