Jr.
March 21, 1933 – May 31, 2022
Troy Meadows Jr. (Papa) of Portland, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the age of 89. He died peacefully with his family by his side.
Troy was born in Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. New Mexico on March 21. 1933 to Troy Meadows and Mary Ellen Smith Meadows. He was the oldest of four children and lovingly called "Buddy" by his siblings. At an early age, Troy helped out on his family's farm working any job his father tasked him to do.
He loved telling stories to his family about his childhood and how he developed a strong work ethic.
He attended Madrid High School where he met the love of his life, Lora Jane Lichtenhahn. He always said that it was love at first sight.
He loved his country and enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 after graduating from Madrid High. Upon returning to Alamogordo, New Mexico from Okinawa, Japan, Troy married Lora Jane in1954. They had four children while living in New Mexico, but spent most or their married life in Laredo, Texas. They were married for 65 wonderful years.
He was a devoted, lifelong employee of Exxon. His dedicated work ethic and desire to take care of his family was second to none. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He made it his priority to be a part of every important family event. Troy was an honorable man and a role model for his entire family. His last request to his family was that they all strive to be "good people."
Troy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lora Jane; his parents; and his brother Jon Robert Meadows (Debbie). He is survived by his children: Robert Meadows, Tori Snyder (John), Jana Cross (Jim), and Mark Meadows (Susan); twelve grandchildren: Preston Meadows (Macy), Macy Amatucci (John), Kellner Siegfried (Bailey), Shelby Hendrick (Justin), Hailey Horton (John), Lauren Hohlt (Andrew), Tyler Cross (Christine), Samantha Meadows, Connor Cross, Austin Meadows, Audrey Meadows and Addy Meadows and twelve great-grandchildren: London Siegfried, Roie Siegfried, Badin Siegfried, Sayers Siegfried, Bexley Amatucci, Halls Hendrick, Aston Amatucci, Armie Amatucci, Henry Holt, Hampton Hendrick, Tripp Cross, and Hanks Hendrick. He is also survived by his very special and much loved sister and brother: Harriet (Peggy) Jenks & her husband Morton, and James (Jim) Meadows & his wife Renee; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families who he always held close in his heart.
Private family services will be held at the gravesite.
