Thomas C. Pennington, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, uncle and brother passed away peacefully at his residence in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 90.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Thomas was the son of Claude B. and Catherine M. Pennington. He shared a loving childhood with his brother, Benjamin F. Pennington. Thomas developed a passion for music in his youth, mastering the saxophone and marching in bands in both San Antonio and Corpus Christi. He graduated from Ray High School in 1950-1951 and pursued higher education at Kingsville A & I University and the University of Texas in Austin.
Thomas served his country honorably in the US Navy, stationed in San Diego. Throughout his life, he made substantial contributions to various industries, excelling in finance and the automobile sector. Corpus Christi remained his home since his teenage years.
A man of diverse interests, Thomas found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid hunter, a devoted member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, and a generous soul who dedicated time and resources to his community. Thomas had a special place in his heart for animals and was a supporter of the local pet hospital, Peewees.
Thomas is survived by Zuela C. Pennington, his children: Patricia A. Busse (Robert Busse), Mark C. Pennington, Craig T. Pennington (Paula Greer), and stepson Joshua Kennedy (Heather Kennedy). He leaves behind cherished grandchildren B.J Busse, Jessica Vera, Shaun Dunk, Kelsie Pennington, Amy Linebaugh, and Catherine Pennington. Additionally, he is survived by six great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. Thomas is also survived by his brother, Benjamin F. Pennington, and wife Judy Pennington and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie P. Demel and his wife Phyllis K. Pennington.
Funeral Services to celebrate Thomas's life will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 , visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the service to be held 11:00 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, located at 2727 Airline Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas 78414 with the Reception to follow.
Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas at Mission Park Funeral Home South located at 1700 SE Military Dr. San Antonio, Texas 78214.
Father Doug, Pastor of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Corpus Christi, will be officiating all services.
In lieu of floral contributions, the family suggests donations to Peewees Paws (1307 Saratoga Blvd) or a charity of your choice.
The family expresses deep gratitude to Thomas's caregivers, Sara Garcia, Jeanne Anthony, and Irene Grimaldi, for their compassionate and dedicated care during his illness.
