It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas "Tommy" Hernandez announce his passing on August 24, 2021 at the age of 44.

He was born in Taft, Texas to the late Jesse Hernandez, Jr. and Odilia Longoria on August 2, 1977.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Although it is impossible to sum up such a wonderful life in only a few words; one would describe Tommy as a generous, hardworking man, that was devoted to his family. His main goal and objective in this life was to ensure his family was well provided for and taken care of. Always with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips. It was the simple things in life that brought him happiness; like watching the Dallas Cowboys or Texas Longhorns play, fishing in Aransas Pass or hunting.

To say he loved his children and grandchildren is an understatement; he spent countless hours in their presence bringing them happiness and joy. It is often said one would give the shirt off their back to help another in need; this was true for Tommy; never did he hesitate to help even a stranger; no questions asked. He was full of life; never taking any moment too serious; as he knew, "this too shall pass."

Our hearts are broken to lose him; but his great legacy will live on for generations to come.

He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Hernandez; children: Sabrina (Randy), Tony, Madalyn, Joshua, Thomas Lee, Rudy, Hailey; grandchildren: Laylah, Lily, River; siblings: Michael (Mary), Marie (Mario), Jessica, Katrina, Erica, Larisa, Catarino "Sonny" (Maura); beloved in-laws: Richard & Gloria Soto; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved.

Public Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary and Chapel Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
