Obituary
On Tuesday, January 3, 2023, Teresa Avila Garza, loving mother of seven, passed away at the age of eighty-four in her home in Corpus Christi, TX. Teresa, born to Nicanor and Francisca Avila on October 22, 1938, in Clarkwood, TX, was a faithful servant of God, caring for all members of her family in any way that she could. By her example, she instilled love, hope, faith, and a strong work ethic in others. She was ever faithful to God and faithfully attended Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church. She was also devoted to her Blessed Mother Mary, constantly praying the rosary for others.
Teresa was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jose H. Garza, four brothers, and five sisters.
She is survived by her children, Irma Garza, Jose Garza, Jr. (Anabel), Enrique Garza (Deborah), Ida Garza, Jimmy Garza, Arturo Garza, and Alvaro Garza. She also leaves two adoring sisters, Maria F. Avila and Natalia Pequeno, sixteen grandchildren, forty- seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating Teresa's life. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Guardian Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
