Teodora D. Avalos passed away on September 21, 2021 at the age of 92.

She was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on November 10, 1928 to her parents Exequio and Petra Duenes.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many; is now at rest.

She is preceded in death by her husband Armando Avalos Sr., her parents; son: Armando Avalos, Jr.; siblings: Jesus Duenes, Antonio Duenes, Felipa Duenes, Santiago Duenes, Joaquina Esquivel; grandchildren: Jeremy and Thomas Peters.

Although it is impossible to sum up such a wonderful woman in only a few words; one would describe Teodora as bold, thoughtful and full of life; enjoying the simplicity of caring for her plants or sitting and watching the sunset outside her home. The quiet chuckle and soft smile she gave as Los Panchos played over the radio; reminiscing on her younger years. She had a profound faith in God and in turn taught her children to be strong, loyal, independent and caring. We must mention the love she had for her chihuahua Bob; until her very last days she walked with him; as he paced himself to her speed; the two were inseparable.

Teodora devoted her life to her family. Always going above and beyond to ensure each child, grandchild and great-grandchild knew of her individual love for them. Azalea recalls a simple example of this beautiful, unique love. Growing up Mom always knew exactly how each child preferred their breakfast before school. She took her precious time to cook every egg to their own liking. It is the precious moments like these that turn our sorrow to joy.

The legacy of love that she leaves in the hearts of so many will live on for generations to come.

Teodora leaves behind to cherish her memories, children: Aida A. Peters, Abel (Connie) Avalos, Azalea Avalos Sanchez, Arnoldo Avalos, Adam (Susan) Avalos, Adolofo Avalos; grandchildren: Andres Avalos and his son Austin Avalos; Audrey Avalos (her daughter Savanna), Abel Avalos, Aaron (Amanda) Avalos, Eileen (Scott) Senteney, Stephanie Avalos, Nicole Avalos, Arnoldo (Ruby) Avalos, Jr., Matthew Avalos, Alyssa Avalos; along with numerous great-grandchildren whom she adored.

Public Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday, September 27, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A with an evening service to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A with the Burial to follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park at 2:30 p.m.
