On Saturday, January 16th, 2021 Sylvia Leal Hernandez loving Sister and Aunt of many passed away at the age of 73. Sylvia was born on January 29th, 1947 in Corpus Christi Texas to Mr. and Mrs. David Henry Leal.

She attended Delmar College and received her Nursing Certificate on October 27th, 1970, she practiced nursing for more than 30 years. On October 16th, 1978 she married the love of her life Gilberto G. Hernandez. Together they raised all of Sylvia's siblings, Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. Sylvia had a passion for caregiving.

Anyone who knew her knew she loved caring for others. She especially loved taking care of her Nieces and Nephews and her Great Nieces and Nephews. It's what kept her going she would say. Sylvia loved bowling. She especially loved bowling with her mother who together formed the perfect team. They were called "The Pink Ladies" they gained many victories over their opponents. She loved spending all the time she could with her mother. She had a swift hand when It came to crocheting. She created beautiful blankets, hats, scarves, holiday pins and many many other creations.

Sylvia was also an avid music lover. She owned a variety of music genres. Anything from the 50's to Patsy Cline, Freddy Fender, Conway Twitty and even Prince. But above everything else she loved her husband with all of her heart and he loved her with all of his heart as well. They shared a beautiful life together. She cared for him while he drove his 18 wheeler all over America, Mexico and Canada. And when he retired he cared for her until his dying day. Together they rest in Eternal Peace.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her father David Henry Leal, her Mother, Estella Longoria Leal. Her brother, David Henry a Leal, her great Nephew Baby JR Rodriguez and her Husband Gilberto G. Hernandez. She is survived by her siblings Thelma Olson, David Daniel Leal Sr. (Norma Leal), Linda Martinez (Richard Martinez), Dalbert Leal (Belinda Leal), Deborah Noriega (Fermin Sanchez) and many, many Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Nephews. She was known for her quick wit, an infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25th, 2021 at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown Access Rd., Corpus Christi, TX 78417. The viewing will begin at 9:00AM followed by the Rosary at 11:00AM and The Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM
