Susana M. Perez, lovingly known as "Chana" passed away peacefully on December 28, 2024, in Corpus Christi, Texas, at the age of 87. She was born on July 23, 1937, in Sodville, Texas, and grew up in Woodsboro before her family settled in Odem, Texas.

Susana was the cherished daughter of Francisco and Guadalupe Martinez. She was one of nine siblings and is remembered fondly by her surviving sisters Emilia Garcia, Dominga Valdez, and Juanita Nunez, as well as her brother Ruben Martinez Sr.. She was preceded in death by her sister Felipa Vasquez and brothers Manuel Martinez, Pedro Juan Martinez, and Pablo Martinez.

On January 25, 1958, Susana married the love of her life, Samuel R. Perez. Together they shared a remarkable 67 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. They built a beautiful family that includes their daughter Palmira Marcinik and three sons: Daniel Perez, Francisco Perez, and Samuel M. Perez. Susana was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Aaron Perez, Leana Perez, Marizelda Perez, Stephanie Moye, Nicole Perez, and Samuel D. Perez. She was preceded in death by her grandson Daniel Perez Jr.

Susana attended Taft High School until the 9th grade and later found her calling as a teacher assistant with Friona ISD, where she specialized in ESL education. Her caring nature and sweet demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Known for her unconditional love for others, Susana brought warmth and kindness to all who knew her.

In her leisure time, Susana enjoyed sewing and quilting—hobbies that reflected her creativity and attention to detail.

Susana's wish is that you bring a quilt she made to the funeral service and that you wear white.

Her memory will forever be a source of comfort to those who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.

Public visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. which will include a recitation of the Holy Rosary.  All services will conclude at the funeral home.
