IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Steven Timothy
Reyes
August 2, 1972 – May 7, 2021
Steven Timothy Reyes, age 48, passed on to his eternal rest on Friday, May 7th, 2021.
He was born on August 2, 1972 in Karnes City, Texas.
Steven was a dedicated and committed Police Officer, serving in the field for over 25 years in various agencies in the Coastal Bend, including Rockport Police Department for 11 years, Aransas County Sheriff's Department for 4 years, Corpus Christi ISD for 4 years, Kenedy Police Department 3 years and Karnes County Sheriff's Department for 3 years. He lived by the motto, 'to serve and protect', and was very much a humanitarian, always going above and beyond his duties as an officer, and always helping those in need while he was both on and off duty.
He attended Texas A&M University, where he obtained his Masters Degree in Counseling. He also served as an Academic Instructor at Kaplan College, where he shared his love for the justice system through his teachings with his students.
He is preceded in death by his father Temo Reyes, his maternal grandparents Juan and Andrea Leal, his paternal grandfather Juan Reyes.
He is survived by his mother, Isabel L. Reyes, his brother John Reyes, his wife Leticia Martinez Reyes, his son Andrew Brice Reyes, his daughter Ashley Elizabeth Reyes, and his step-children, Cassandra and Jonathan Alvarado. Steven had a love and passion for life, and especially for his wife and children.
He was always so very proud of his family. He enjoyed being with them, especially during special occasions, holidays, road trips and family vacations . He married the love of his life, Letty, whom he absolutely adored. They shared a mutual love for the Lord, and took much pleasure in attending church on Sundays, attending bible study, reading scriptures, and praying together, family dinners, cruising on Ocean Dr. barbecuing, and just hanging out with his loved ones. Steven had a strong and special relationship with his Mother-in-Law, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and nieces and nephews. There were always a lot of jokes and laughter.
Steven had a wonderful personality that went along with his contagious laughter. He made friends wherever he went, and built so many friendships in Rockport. He always had many stories to share at home. He impacted so many lives and left an imprint in many hearts. He was a simple man; a man of little words, who shared a lot of wisdom. Steven T. Reyes was very much loved by so many, and will be dearly missed.
We would like to thank Dr. Paul W. Heath, C.V.N.P-Jennifer McLaughlin, Dr. Jack L. Cortese, Dr. Christian M. Dickson, Dr. Mark Morales, Dr. Mark Bielefeld, Dr. Francisco Acebo, and Dr. Mario Martinez for their endless efforts and dedication to Steven all these years. God Bless you all. We also want to extend our sincerest gratitude to the City of Rockport and Rockport Police Department for offering prayer and support during the most difficult and challenging times. Thank you for taking care of Steven's family all these years. Thank you to Church Unlimited for welcoming Steven and his family with open arms for the past 11 years. It was through your sermons that Steven found faith, peace and guidance, and it was through Gateway Christian Center that he made his way home to be with the Lord.
