Obituary
Stella Jo Gonzalez (formerly Andrews), 54, died peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Stella was born on December 21, 1966 in Ottawa, IL to Dolores and Calvin Schroeder.
As a child, she was a graceful ballerina, loved dance, and loved being outdoors. She enjoyed concerts, music, shopping, and being adventurous. She taught aerobic classes at the YMCA, competed in pool tournaments in Las Vegas, worked on the demanding pipeline. She selflessly spent her entire life as a caregiver to those she loved the most. Stella Jo has touched many lives with her selflessness, warm spirit, giving heart, and radiating love.
Stella's proudest accomplishments were her three children; Michael, Kenny, and Nina. They were her entire world and she was so proud to be their mom. Everything she did was for her children. The same, her children were so proud to have her as their mother. Stella left her hometown and relocated to Corpus Christi, Texas, where she met and later happily married Michael Gonzalez, who was her best friend, love, and partner in life for almost 12 years at the time of her death.
She was a beautiful, genuine, strong, resilient woman who will be loved and missed by everyone who was lucky enough to cross her path.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Dolores Schroeder of Marseilles, Il, and dear friends, Sarah Geiger and Amy Ferguson.
She was survived in death by her husband, Michael Gonzalez, her three children: Mike of Ottawa, IL, Kenny and Nina (Jason) of San Antonio, TX, her sister, Toni (John) Singleton of Osceola, IN, her brother, Darren Schroeder of Marseilles, IL and many nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her beloved rescued fur baby, Hank.
Services will be held on Wednesday, February 10th at Guardian Funeral Home starting at 1:00 PM in Corpus, Christi, Texas. This service is private for immediate family only.
There will also be a public visitation held in Illinois which will be announced at a later time.
