IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sidney
Salinas
January 29, 1952 – September 7, 2019
Sidney Salinas passed away peacefully on September 7, 2019 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 67 years old.
He was born on January 29, 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas to the late Johnny Salinas and Beatrice Ortiz Salinas.
After high school Mr. Salinas joined the United States Marine Corps where he completed two tours in Vietnam followed by two years of service at Camp Pendleton. Sid was a proud Marine who loved serving his country. He tried serving a third tour but was honorably discharged.
He would then continue his career serving the public as a state trooper in Kokomo, Indiana for seven years.
Sid then moved to Corpus Christi and worked as a service advisor for Vista Chevrolet, Ed Hicks, Love Chrysler and Creveling Dodge. Mr. Salinas made the tough decision to leave the auto industry to return to his passion of law enforcement; where he became a security guard for Allied Barton. He served in this role for eight years, patrolling the Port of Corpus Christi.
Most will remember him by his love for traveling the roads on his motorcycle. His best moments were spent with his brothers of the Calaveras MC, of which he was a very proud member.
Sid's pride and joy were his grandchildren. He devoted his life to his family, he would go above and beyond to ensure their every need and want was met. A perfect evening for Sid would be having each of them gathered around the fire, barbecuing, and telling stories over a good meal. He enjoyed the time he shared with his friends and family, spending countless hours fishing on a pier with his son; simply taking care of the people he loved.
He was what one would call a true friend, always offering a helping hand to anyone in need. His presence could brighten up any room and his jokes make you laugh uncontrollably. Sid had such a big heart and left a lasting impression on each of the people he met. He will be missed dearly everyday, but his legacy will live on through the stories we share and the memories we hold.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and sister Janie Paulson.
Sid leaves behind to cherish these memories; his son Jonathan Salinas and daughter in law Amanda Landa; 2 grandchildren: Joshua Salinas and Julianna Salinas; siblings: Rudy (Yolanda) Salinas, Robert (Adelmira) Salinas, Beatrice (Ines Jose) Magellan Salinas, Bob (Olga) Ortiz, Johnny (Sylvia) Salinas, Bertha Salinas, Betty Salinas, Ida Salinas Cuellar; numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends whom he loved.
Public visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel "A" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
A Chapel Service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 13, 2019 at Guardian Funeral Chapel "A".
Burial with military honors will follow in the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m. 9974 I.H.-37 Access Road.
