Obituary

Sandra Esmeralda Avila, was called home on March 2, 2024 at the age of 70.

She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to her parents Presentacion and Maria Aurora Avila on May 29, 1953.

A beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many is now at rest.

Although it would be impossible to capture such a beautiful life, well lived, in only a few words, most would describe Sandra as gracious, elegant, and kind. She received her formal education at Foy H. Moody High School, graduating in the Class of 1972.  Her sweet soul blessed the lives of many not only in her family, but through her work with the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center where she dedicated over 31 years of service.

She lived as boldly as she loved; one her favorite places to visit was Denver, Colorado creating one of her fondest memories, spending Christmas in Denver. She had a selfless spirit that embodied the love and humility of Christ. Throughout her earthly journey she enjoyed art; both viewing it and creating it and now, with sure and certain hope, we rejoice that she is dwelling with the Greatest Artist, her friend and brother, Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her legacy of happiness and unwavering devotion to her family and her clients will live on for generations to come.

Sandra is joined now in heaven by her parents Presentacion and Aurora Avila; and siblings: Angie Avila, Rudy Avila, Tony Avila, and Presentacion Avila, Jr.

She is survived by two of her life's greatest accomplishments, her sons, Martin Danny Landa (Kassandra), Martin Neo Landa; her beloved dog Toby and grand-cat Shadow; her dearly cherished siblings: Adela Hernandez (Mike), Grace Avila, Sylvia Torres (Luis), Rosa Madrigal (Luis), Patty Vallejo (Juan), Celia Alba (Fidel), Diana Medina (Noberto), Nora Avila, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who were blessed to share in the joy of life with Sandra.
