Samuel Perales, Jr, 79, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family Saturday April 7th, 2018. A graduate of Roy Miller High School in 1958, Sam played the saxophone as a member of the marching band. He was also a member of the De Novo's Boys Club and was enlisted in the Marine Reserve 24th. Rifle Company.
In 1960, he married his High School sweetheart and the love of his life, Gloria Ramirez. Baseball was always a huge part of his life; he was active in the American Little League for eight years where he held many positions, finishing as President. Sam retired after 31 1/2 years with the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor where he received many awards for his outstanding performance and dedication.
He is preceded in death by his parents Samuel & Consuelo Perales, in - laws Pedro Ramirez Sr. & Elisa Mondragon Ramirez, his brothers Emilio A. Perales, Juan L. Perales, Royel H. Perales, Benito R. Perales, daughter - in - law Melinda Yvette Cuellar Perales and several in - laws close to his heart.
Sam leaves behind to cherish his memories, the love of his life Gloria R. Perales, daughter Consuelo Belynda Perales of Cypress, TX, sons Samuel Perales III (Marissa) & Orlando Anthony Perales (Angie), daughter Cynthia M. Perales Woods (Corey), grandchildren: Melody J. Cuellar Boyd (Justin) of San Antonio, TX, Amanda R. Martinez Henry of Columbus, OH, Krystal D. Perales, Christian S. Perales, Orlando A. Perales II, Gabriella E. Perales of Houston, TX, Brandi N. Perales of Cypress, TX, Gabriela Avila, RJ Avila, Zoey M. Woods and Aidan Z. Woods, great grandchildren: Aidan J. Perales, D. Ryan Henry, Mia R. Henry, Nathan Z. Henry and Aleah B. Perales. He is also survived by his aunt Susie Perales Abarca, two sisters Rosa Garcia and Doris Flores (Oscar) of San Jose, CA, brother Ricardo H. Perales and numerous in - laws, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Sam was an avid fan of hunting, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, John Wayne, Pedro Infante, George Strait and Vicente Fernandez. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was admired by his family and loved by all who knew him.
Pallbearers will be Samuel, Orlando, Christian, Orlando II, Corey and Eddie Ramirez. Honorary pallbearers Aidan P. and Aidan W.
He paved a foundation and his legacy forever lives on.
Public visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at Guardian funeral home chapel "A" with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Most Precious Blood Catholic church 3502 Saratoga Blvd. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
