IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ryan Lamar
Sherman
May 7, 1997 – August 14, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ryan Lamar Sherman on August 14, 2019 at the age of 22. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend to many.
Ryan was born on May 7, 1997 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Russell and Claudia Sherman.
It is nearly impossible to capture the full impact which Ryan had on this world, or to try in only a few words to describe such a life well lived. Although many knew him as more of a quiet, reserved person, he was so generous with his time and his joy. He always had a knack for education whether it be in the classroom or otherwise; each day he vowed to learn something new.
In 2015, he graduated with Honors from the Corpus Christi College Preparatory High School. He would then pursue a degree in Criminal Justice from Del Mar College, with only one semester away from graduation. On May 7, 2019 he had officially completed his course work to become an Emergency Medical Technician and was looking forward to taking his state exam. He had this innate want in his heart to help those in need. We must speak of his love for jujitsu; the time and energy he dedicated to this art was unmatched. He was a frequent contender of the North American Grappling Association submission tournaments, competing in many challenges; often times going home with the championship title.
He was recognized by the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and Crime Scene Investigation for his success and commitment to the legal field and awarded his course completion certificate in Jurisprudence from the Texas EMS Academy.
With these gifts, he vowed to always protect and fight for even the lowliest of his peers.
A recently discovered fact came to light since his passing; while working as a server at a local restaurant, he had the human resources department drawing weekly increments from his check to be donated to a charity, doing this without the need for recognition from the public nor his friends or family. This only reiterates the nature of Ryan's giving spirit. His love for God, lead him to be a man among men, to lead, to be courageous, and to always preserve beyond any limit. He knew of the gifts he had been given and was willing to share them anytime he could.
For his loved ones; you can only guess how much he gave to them in love. He will forever be known as the life of the family. If you were feeling down, you could turn to him for a little humor, even if the joke was about you. Each person who was lucky enough to meet him can attest to this character; his happiness was contagious. Always with a smile on his face and a joke on his lips; this is how he will be remembered. Through every trial or tribulation he faced, Ryan chose to find light in the darkness.
To say he is going to be missed, is truly an understatement, but faith in God which he lead his life by, tells us that he is very much alive today. With every smile, every hug, every laugh; we will celebrate Ryan's life.
He joins now in heaven his paternal Grandfather Donald Wesley Sherman.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, parents Russell Lee and Claudia Carolina Sherman of Corpus Christi; sister Marisol and Troy Chavarria of Anchorage Alaska, sister Victoria Elizabeth Sherman of Corpus Christi; paternal grandmother Sharon Kay Sherman of Buffalo, Oklahoma; and maternal Grandparents Ramon G. and Elizabeth (Luna) Hernandez of Corpus Christi, Texas; Girlfriend Rachel Maxine Gandy; and a plethora of extended members of the family to include the Sherman, Hernandez, and Cavazos families.
Public Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, with a Celebration of Life Service at 1:30 p.m. Burial to follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
