Ruth Trejo Casanova, 52 died on January 4,2014 following a sudden illness. She was born March 4, 1961 in Corpus Christi, to Maurilio Trejo Sr. and Maria A.Trejo. She along with 6 brothers and two sisters grew up in the neighborhood of Molina. She attended West Oso High School (class of 1979.) Ms. Casanova was a tenured employee of Peerless Cleaners.
Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Henry Casanova Sr; they raised two sons, Henry Jr. and Mark. Unfortunately, she lost her husband in a tragic car accident. Later, she was blessed with another son, Jason Barrera. Moreover, the tragic loss of her son, Mark Aaron Casanova, led to her raising her grandson Markquis Casanova. The aforementioned summizes her life's passion - her family. She lived everyday of her life for their welfare. Her loving nature extended well beyond her immediate family. In fact, many will attest to her baking finesse; her Pan de Polvo (Mexican Wedding Cookies) were legendary and graced some wedding receptions of late.
Ms. Casanova was a devout Christian, and a member of El Mesias Baptist church. She tirelessly served her church community as a volunteer in multiple capacities. In addition, Ms. Ruth had her hand in many community based organizations: West Oso Football booster, youth sports, etc. Her league of friends speaks volumes about the caliber of her character. One particular Facebook post resonates: "she was like everybody's Aunt." Indeed she was loved, and will be missed by many. She is preceded in death by her husband Henry Casanova Sr, son, Mark Aaron Casanova(Tameka), father Maurilio Trejo Sr, her brothers: Jose Manuel Trejo, and Miguel Trejo, She is survived by her sons: Henry Casanova Jr, (Adwanys), Jason Barrera, grandson, Markquis A. Casanova, mother Maria A Trejo, brothers: Maurilio Trejo Jr, (Kathy), Regino Trejo(Mary), Roberto Trejo(Thelma); Joe Trejo(Lisa); sisters: Rachel Banda, and Irma Contreras. As well as several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
