Ruben Salinas passed away quietly in his home early Tuesday morning, July 28, 2020. He was 91 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hilda, his mother and father Sarita and Leandro Salinas, brothers Albert, Herman and sister Maria Cuca Rubio. He is survived by his son Robert and daughter Denise, and many vices and nephews.  Ruben was a Korean War veteran, serving with India Company 3rd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment (3/7) and part of the "Frozen Chosin". He later retired from civil service with the US Navy-NAS Corpus Christi and served 18 years as President of the Sparkling City by the Sea chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE). He and Hilda we both active bowler for many years and longtime members of the Lucky Strikers.

Services will take place at St. Pius Catholic Church on Friday August 7. The Holy Rosary will be held at 1030 with a Memorial Mass to follow. Burial will be at 1pm at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
