Ruben Jesus Fuentes, age 83, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 in Harlingen, Texas.  He was born December 25, 1939 in Alice, Texas. Ruben married Nelda Prado on December 25, 1969, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ruben and Nelda were happily married for 50 yrs. Ruben was proud to be an Army veteran and worked as an Aircraft Examiner for the Corpus Christi Army Depot for 41 yrs.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He was a dedicated longtime parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. Ruben will always be remembered for his love of football and basketball, hard work and dedication, the love of his family and friends, and the love of his Catholic faith.

He is survived by his sons, Michael C. Fuentes and wife of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Marcus G. Fuentes of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Marissa Fuentes Gonzalez and husband of Harlingen, Texas; Ruben Fuentes, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; and grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Ruben is preceded in death by his wife Nelda Prado Fuentes; mother Monica Benavides Olivarez; father Felix Fuentes; brother Felix Fuentes, Jr.; sister Vicki Fuentes Wilks; and daughter Roseanne Fuentes Bosman.

Family, friends and others whose lives were touched by Ruben are invited to the visitation services from 4-8 pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Guardian Funeral Home 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417, with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023 at Holy Family Catholic church, 2509 Nogales/MacArthur St.

Burial will follow with Full Military honors at 1:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery 9974 I.H. 37 North Access Rd.
