Roy Lester Greathouse passed away on May 14, 2016 at the age of 76 years in Kerrville, Texas. He was the second child born to Julius and Ollie M. Taylor Greathouse. Roy was born in Gonzales, Texas on May 13, 1940. He moved with his family to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1942. Roy attended West Oso High School and entered the United States Army on November 28, 1964. He served a tour in Vietnam.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Evelyn McDonald, his four brothers, Julius, Henery, Edward, Earl and a nephew Kevin Greathouse.
Roy is survived by a sister Eva (Ernest) Politte of Corpus Christi, a brother Sherman (Mary) Greathouse of Austin, five nieces, Angela (Arthor) Coley, Carolyn (James) Reed, Cynthia (Darryl) Griffin, Ollie (LaShon), Toccara Franklin, two nephews Walter Greathouse, Sherman Greathouse III.
When he reached the end of his journey, he found love and compassion there. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Gampala, nurses Kassie Taylor, Ann, Kristie, and Chaplains Chris and Matt for the compassion and respect shown to Roy during his brief stay at the ICU of Peterson Regional Medical Center, Kerrville, Texas.
Graveside services will take place on Friday May 20, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
