Rosendo G. Martinez Jr., 80, passed away 08/20/2023. He was born on 08/08/1943 to Rosendo J. Martinez Sr. and Eulalia G. Martinez in Corpus Christi TX. He served in the Air Force and was a graduate of Del Mar College. Rosendo was married to his wife, Maria L. Martinez, for 50 years. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, cousin, friend and uncle who will be greatly missed. He retired from Asarco in 1985 where he was employed for 17 years. Rosendo is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Matilde Ayala and his wife.

Rosendo will be remembered for his laughter, sense of humor and his devotion to his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and cars.

Left to cherish his memories are his children, Nicolas Martinez (Nancy), Lucia Martinez, Melissa Martinez, Rosendo Martinez the third, and Ricardo Martinez (Gina), grandchildren Marlene Maldonado, Krystina Martinez, Matthew Baumgartner, John M. Martinez, Angelica Martinez, Rosa L. Martinez, George Dykstra, Israel Martinez and Helena Maria Martinez, 8 great grandchildren and siblings Petra Butkovich (Dan) and Alicia Pena (Robert) and multiple nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Palms nursing center and Angel Bright hospice  for the care given to our loved one during his final days on this earth. Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. til 1:00 p.m. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the Coastal Bend State Veterans cemetery 9974 I.H. 37 North Access Rd.
