Rosario "Rosie" Valle Cortez entered eternal rest on August 12, 2023, at the age of 73, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 21, 1950, to Arnulfo and Guadalupe Valle in San Patricio County. She grew up in Oxnard, California, and attended Hueneme High School. She later moved to Taft, Texas with her grandparents in her early twenties. She married Juan Cortez, Sr in the Summer of 1976, and had one son.

She is survived by her husband, Juan Cortez, Sr. and son Juan Cortez, Jr. (Valerie); 3 grandchildren: Sarah Cortez, Natalie Cortez, and Alejandro "Alex" Cortez; 3 siblings: Gracie Christian, Arnulfo Valle, Jr., and Marie Garcia. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved Jake.

Rosie is preceded in death by both her parents, Arnulfo and Guadalupe Valle, sister Patricia Valle, and grandson Juan "Johnny" Cortez, III.

She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She volunteered at her local church and worked as a crossing guard. She loved spending time with her grandkids, cooking, and playing games. Rosie often hosted parties for family and friends and loved giving out gifts. She loved watching both the Lakers and Atlanta Braves on tv. Rosie helped raise many children for family and friends.

There will be a visitation held at Guardian Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 22nd at 5 pm-8pm . Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:30pm. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 24th at S S Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church at 12pm with the interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1:30pm.
