Ronald Jay
Hinkle
January 4, 1938 – January 3, 2026
Ronald Jay "Ron" Hinkle, son of the late Warren Vern and Sylvia Corrine Hinkle was born January 4, 1938 in Roswell, New Mexico. He attended public school in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School, class of 1957 where he excelled in varsity football and track and field. He played a key role as a member of the 1956 Roswell High School Coyotes State Championship Football Team. Ron was a faithful Christian; he was a member and baptized at his childhood church home of Calvary Baptist Church in Roswell.
In 1958 Ron worked for Magnolia Oil Co. on the surveying crew and was transferred to Garden City, Kansas where he attended the First Baptist Church and met the one and only love of his life, Ava Joyce Burton. They were married June 6, 1959 at the First Baptist Church of Garden City. They were blessed with 3 children: Ronald Kyle born March 16, 1961; Kerri Beth born and soon after returned to Jesus February 4, 1964; and Katrina Jo born September 16, 1965.
Ron went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early the morning of January 3, 2026 just one day shy of his 88th birthday. He was blessed to pass quietly at home in Corpus Christi, TX surrounded by family.
Ron was known for his wonderful sense of humor, calming nature and unwavering faithfulness and devotion to his family. He lived a beautiful life of honor, integrity, honesty and adhering to the Christian values he embraced. He exemplified these traits and touched the lives of so many during his time on Earth.
He was employed from 1960-1971 by International Harvester Co. as a parts man and advanced to area manager. In 1971 he bought into his own International Harvester dealership in Lovington, New Mexico where he was dedicated to serving the farming community until the business closed in 1981. He then worked as a Pumper for Amoco Production in Tatum, NM and then in Hobbs, NM until his retirement in 1996. Ron was an avid woodworker, master cabinet maker and enjoyed working in his shop when he wasn't spending time with his beloved family.
Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Kerri Beth Hinkle, father, Warren Vern Hinkle, mother, Sylvia Corrine Bagwell Hinkle, brother, Donald Ray Hinkle, great-grandson Nolan Bryce Collins and daughter-in-law Shanda Kay Hinkle.
His amazing life will be forever emulated in the hearts and lives of his beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived and forever treasured by his son Ronald "Kyle" (Darlene) Hinkle, and daughter Katrina Goldby, granddaughters Stacia (Will) Weber, Ashton (Robert) Collins, Cierra Hinkle, Drew Hinkle, Shelby Bryant and grandson Logan Bryant and great-grandchildren Jerron Aragon, Rilee Hinkle, Link Hinkle and Avari Collins.
