Romona Stover, a beloved mother and lady of intelligence and gentleness, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on July 31, 1945, in Alta Loma, Texas, to proud parents Elroy and Olympe Ortego.
Romona was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Galveston, Texas, class of 1963. Her academic journey did not end there. She furthered her education by attending Lamar University in 1964, where she honed the skills that would serve her well throughout her professional life. Romona's career spanned over three decades, beginning with a 20+ year tenure as a bookkeeper for Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. Her meticulous attention to detail and her innate understanding of numbers made her an invaluable asset to the company.
After Romona's career in bookkeeping, Romona transitioned into the role of a property manager for Scott Schmidt, where she continued to excel for another decade. Her colleagues and clients alike admired her for her intelligence and her gentle approach to problem-solving. Romona's ability to navigate the complexities of property management with grace and efficiency earned her the respect of all who worked with her.
Those who knew Romona will remember her as a lady of great intellect, someone who could always be relied upon for sage advice and thoughtful insights. Romona's legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the people and the work she loved.
Romona is survived by her two beloved sons, Joseph Thompson and Jimmy Thompson. She will be deeply missed by them both.
As we bid farewell to Romona Stover, we celebrate a life well-lived, and a journey marked by accomplishment and love. Romona's spirit will live on in the hearts of her sons, family and faithful friends.
