Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and dear friend on October 29, 2024 at the age of 63. Roland was a gentle giant who loved his music (very loud!), BBQ, Lone Star Beer or any cold beer, Dallas Cowboys and football 'numbers' ( if you know, you know!). He owned and operated RV Copy, working as a technician and wholesaler.

Roland touched the lives of many many people. If you met him, you became his friend immediately. It didn't matter if he met you at a restaurant serving him, a drive thru, a corner store or even the bank teller. No one was a stranger to him. He made friendly converstion with every person he came in contact with. He made a lasting impact and impression on everyone. All who knew him loved him dearly. He loved to crack jokes and make people laugh. He often 'threw a cruise' and would have a ride along buddy or a 'hostage' with him! (I have been kidnapped a time or two myself, lol). His stops were the beach, a buddy's house, family all the while sitting in his truck sipping a brewski and sharing a laugh.

Roland loved all and enjoyed entertaining with his concert style environment in his home. He will be missed beyond measure by all but firstmost, our mother, Dora, and siblings. Roland took care of our mother in his home for the last 6+ years, which we believe has earned him some extra wings in heaven! We can all agree and hold true that we were not ready nor willing to have him leave so soon. Roland never forgot anyone and we will never forget him.

Roland is preceded in death by his father Jose V. Vera and his brother Eric Vera.

He is survived by his Mother Dora, children Roland Vera Jr. and Jasmine V. (Manuel) Sanchez, 2 grandchildren, his brother Joe Vera Jr, and sisters Susan V. (Richard) Sandoval, Veronica Vera, Linda V. (Chris) Cavazos, and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.

Public visitation will begin on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 10am at Guardian Funeral Home Chapel A with a Holy Rosary recited at 1pm followed by shared memories of Roland's life.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
