Obituary

Roland David Garza passed away on January 10, 2021. He was born on March 25, 1954 in Yoakum, Texas to his mother, Doris Cervantes Curtis and father, the late Juan Garza.

Roland is survived by his mother, Doris Cervantes Curtis, half brother, Juan Manuel Garza from Houston, Texas, step-sister Julie Ann Curtis from Dallas, Texas, and his loving Aunt, Lydia Cervantes, Corpus Christi. Also many cousins from Corpus Christi, Yoakum, Victoria, and San Antonio.

In addition to family, Roland enjoyed the rich friendship of many, many, musicians and non-musician friends. Roland started playing guitar at the age of 6. He was a true musician at heart.

After W.B. Ray High School he joined the Air Force and was a Traffic Controller. He then moved to Houston and lived there for many years then came back home to Corpus Christi. He worked for Hacienda Records over ten years then went out on his own.

Several years later he acquired a partner, Ernesto Cadena, whom he loved as a brother and had their recording studio in San Diego, Texas known as Pantera Recording Studio. He so loved his job, as Recording Engineer and so loved going to San Diego to record and see his partner and musician friends. Recording music was the joy of his life.

A Memorial Service remembering Roland will be held Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, 430 S. Carancahua Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78401 (361) 884 4057
