Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rodolfo "Rudy T." Trevino, who was born on June 7, 1957. He entered eternal paradise on February 15, 2026, at the age of 68.

Rudy lived the kind of life many only talk about, free-spirited, wholehearted, and unapologetically full of joy. He embraced each moment of life as a gift, and truly understood the meaning of living life to the fullest with his "Another Day in Paradise" motto. Rudy did not sweat the small stuff, he had a positive outlook on life, he was full of energy and loved to socialize. For more than 40 years, Rudy dedicated himself to his work at the Caller-Times where he built not only a respected career but lasting friendships. His strong work ethic, steady presence, and commitment to excellence left a meaningful mark on his colleagues and community.

Beyond his professional life, Rudy had a true passion for coaching youth baseball. For many years, he mentored and inspired young athletes along with his son, teaching them not only how to play the game but how to carry themselves with integrity, teamwork, and heart. To him, baseball was about more than wins and losses — it was about character. In his younger days he found inspiration in the artistry, craftsmanship, and pride of lowrider cars. His passion for cars encouraged him and his brother Roy to found the "Firme Lowrider Car Club". To Rudy, lowriding wasn't just about cars — it was about family. Weekends were filled with car shows, cruises, laughter, music, and storytelling. He took pride in his cars, the rumble of engines and the gleam of polished metal were the soundtrack and symbols of a life lived boldly and authentically.

He was a loyal fan of the Houston Astros and the Dallas Cowboys, rarely missing a game and always believing the next season would be the one. Whether he was cheering from the couch or watching games at his favorite hangout spots his enthusiasm was contagious. Rudy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. His calm demeanor and steady optimism were gifts to everyone who knew him. Above all, he cherished his family. He was loyal, supportive, dependable, and always ready with encouragement or a well-timed joke. His presence brought comfort, laughter, and strength to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, hard work, and quiet wisdom. While he will be deeply missed, his lessons, stories, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Rudy is preceded in death by his parents, Flavio and Lydia Trevino. He is survived by his wife, Irma Trevino; daughter Melissa Trevino (Roy Sauceda); Son Rudy Lee Trevino; brothers Rick (Susie) Trevino, Roy (Janie) Trevino, and Reymundo Trevino; sisters Janie (Fernando) Ochoa and Adelita (Paul) Clemones. He is also survived by his granddaughters Justine and Gia Sauceda, great grandson Grayson Guerrero along with numerous nieces and nephews and his three dogs, AJ, Jose and Lily Belle.

A celebration of his life and rosary will be held on Monday February 23, 2026 at Guardian Funeral Home located at 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas. Public visitation will begin at 4:00pm with a Holy Rosary to follow at 6:00pm.
