IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodolfo Pena
Guerra
December 26, 1944 – May 29, 2025
With a feeling of profound sadness, the family of Rodolfo "Rudy" P. Guerra Sr., age 80, announce his passing on the early morning of May 29, 2025. Rodolfo was born December 26, 1944 in Merkel, Texas to his parents George and Petra Guerra.
Rudy was a prideful, honorable man who was the perfect example of, "work hard now, enjoy life later". As of recent years, he was most known for routinely spending his days completing fill-in puzzles and watching his favorite tv channels with his cat, Susie, by his side. Though long before this time in his life, came the many years of hard work and service he provided to the country. From the young age of 6, Rudy started his years of hard work by picking cotton all through his childhood years. He graduated from Carroll High School class of '65. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany and returned in '67. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 25 years of service (1984-2009) with previous jobs including: Asarco (1969-1982) and H-E-B Warehouse (1967-1969). Along with these jobs he worked hard to accomplish a Liberal Arts degree and graduated from Del Mar College in 1977. He was a man full of stories to tell and if you were lucky enough, you got to hear one of his many funny jokes. He was always generous to all his loved ones and looked forward to Sundays with the grandkids and great grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Elma O. Guerra; his parents George and Petra Guerra; his brothers George Guerra Jr., Tomas Guerra, Jesus Guerra and Gilbert Guerra; sisters Victoria Guerra, Angelica Leal, and Natividad DeLeon. He is survived by his brother Richard Guerra and Janie (George) Magro, his children Roldolfo Guerra Jr. and Lenda J. Guerra-Solis. Along with 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren whom he loved and cherished.
