IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rodolfo “Sonny”
Castillo Gonzalez
August 4, 1926 – March 13, 2021
Rodolfo "Sonny" Castillo Gonzalez went to be with our Lord on March 13, 2021 at the age of 94. He died peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to his parents Policarpio Gonzalez and Rita Castillo Gonzalez on August 4, 1926.
Sonny joins now in heaven his wife of 63 years Beatriz Garcia Gonzalez; sons: Rodolfo Gonzalez Jr., Hipolito Gonzalez; grandsons: Reuben Anthony Gonzalez, John Stacy Olvera; great-grandson: Jon-Vincent Maldonado; siblings: Carlos Gonzalez, Hipolito Gonzalez, Felix Gonzalez, Gonzalo Gonzalez, Gabina Bazan and Rita Perez.
He is survived by his children: Rita (Don) Ybanez, Marta (Victor +) Galvan, Rosie (Rolando) Vasquez, Felix (Sylvia) Gonzalez, Rudy (Lupita) Gonzalez Jr., Samuel (Lisa) Gonzalez, Reuben (Melodie) Gonzalez, Guadalupe Gonzalez and Diana (Tim) Reddell; 27 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters: Julia Gonzalez, Bernarda Moreno and daughter-in-law Cynthia Gonzalez.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. Sonny always knew the value of hard work, ensuring his family was well provided for. The sound of Tejano music brought great joy to our father; it was a ritual to listen to music both at breakfast and at dinner. Many would say he never met a stranger; easily making friends at places like the YWCA, Linda's Restaurant or Golden Corral, where he was a regular. A favorite pastime of both Beatiz and Sonny was to go dancing; we have a beautiful vision of the dances they are enjoying together in heaven.
He was a lifetime member of Holy Family Catholic Church, where served as both an usher and was a proud member of the Cursillista De Colores. Attending mass and being involved in the Church were very important to our parents; a firm foundation which reminds us to always be humble, and make the world a more loving place. His legacy will live in our hearts for generations to come.
Our family would like to extend their gratitude to his caregivers: Cori Gonzalez and Amanda Garcia for their especially kind treatment of our Father; we thank you sincerely.
