Rodolfo (Rudy) Avila
Corpus Christi, TX

Rodolfo (Rudy) Avila, 49, went home to be with the Lord on August 31, 2013. He was born on May 8, 1964 in Corpus Christi, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Aurora and Presentacion Avila, and a sister, Angelica Avila Grigsby. Rudy leaves behind his loving wife, Alma Ortiz Avila and a daughter, Amber Avila and two step-children, Hailey and Trystan Rodriguez.

Rudy is also survived by 11 siblings, Presentacion (Chonito) Avila, Adela Avila (Miguel) Hernandez, Grace Avila Garcia, Sylvia Avila (Luis) Torres, Sandra Avila Landa, Patricia Avila (Juan) Vallejo, Rosie Avila (Luis) Madrigal, Celia Avila (Fidel) Alba, Diana Avila (Norberto) Medina, Pedro Antonio (Valarie) Avila and Nora Avila. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.

Rudy was a loving husband, father and friend. A wonderful family man. He was also a barbecue chef to his family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, who especially loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time at family gatherings and always giving advice to all his nieces and nephews. Rudy was a great man of God. He served as an usher at Family First Church, always sharing the Word and his love for Christ. Rudy brought may people to the Lord. There was not a person that he met that didn't become a friend. He touched so many lives. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Guardian funeral home at 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78417. A Memorial Service will be held at Family First Church on the same day at 6:00 p.m. located at 1525 Morgan Ave., Corpus Christi, Tx., 78404.
