In Loving Memory Of
Roberto Cano Gonzalez, age 62, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Roberto was born on March 9, 1964, to Roberto Gonzalez Sr. and Julia Cano Gonzalez. He was raised in Brownsville, Texas, where he attended and graduated from Homer Hanna High School in 1982.
He later moved to Kingsville, Texas, where he opened and managed the city’s first KFC. His journey then took him to Beeville, Texas, before eventually settling in Corpus Christi, Texas, which became his final home.
Throughout his life, Roberto held many roles, including restaurant manager, OSHA trainer, Business owner, Safety Manager, and (SGE) Special Government Employee. His work allowed him to travel across the country, where he was known not only for his dedication and professionalism, but also for his enthusiastic personality and his nonstop jokes that brought joy to everyone around him.
In February 1986, Roberto married the love of his life, Sandra Gonzalez. Together, they built a beautiful life and shared 40 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and family.
Roberto had a deep passion for fishing, storytelling, University of Texas Longhorns and sports. He loved playing softball and proudly served as a league president in Beeville, Texas. He was also devoted to coaching, mentoring his younger brothers and sons in baseball and football. A cherished member of the Southside/Westside baseball and CCYFL communities, Roberto volunteered thousands of hours, impacting not only his own children, but hundreds of others throughout the years. His legacy in the community will be remembered for generations.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Gonzalez, his sons, Roberto ”Rico" (Samantha), Derek (Alexis), and Jonathan. His grandchildren who were the light of his life and his greatest joy, Bethanie, Roberto “Papi,” and Cataleya Gonzalez. He is also survived by his siblings, Armandina (Javier) Lerma, Julia Gonzalez, and Perla (Angel) Arreola, Humberto (Cindy), Rigoberto (Laura), Jose, and Jesse Gonzalez. Along with numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roberto Gonzalez Sr. and Julia Cano Gonzalez, and his brothers, Juan and Jesus Gonzalez.
Roberto will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father, loving grandfather, mentor, leader, and friend to many. His laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family, friends, and community will never be forgotten. Roberto was loved dearly by everyone who crossed his path and would move mountains for them.
We would like to thank his Many Doctors and Medical teams for their exceptional care and support for him for the last 12 years.
Service Information
A Visitation will be held on April 4th from 1pm-6pm. A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 4:30pm.
