IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roberto Edwardo
Garza, Sr.
May 30, 1965 – July 17, 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Roberto Salinas Garza. He passed peacefully on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Christus Spohn Shoreline hospital surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 58.
Roberto "Bert" was born on May 30, 1965, in Kingsville, Texas. In his early years he was an altar server at St. Martin Catholic Church earning a 1-year "Service Cross" and a 10-year "Grand Cross". He was also an Eagle Scout and earned the "Ad Altare Dei" (to the altar of God) award. Later he attended Texas A&I University and St. Phillips College in Kingsville, Texas. For many years he worked at the Celanese Plant in both Bishop, Texas, and in Charlotte, North Carolina as a Plastics Extrusion Operator. He was also a certified welder. He was a man full of life and wasn't afraid to live it as he saw fit. He was a free-spirit, who was truly a jack of all trades and loved learning new things. He played all types of guitars, enjoyed singing, dancing, playing frisbee, working on cars, being a goofball and doing his unashamed "Gritos." If you knew him, you know exactly what I'm talking about. He loved having BBQ's, jamming out and have a cold one while enjoying the views of world around him. He was a lover of all animals and his gentleness had a calming and trusting effect on even the most aggressive ones. He enjoyed working with plants and doing landscape designs and had a green thumb.
Roberto was a man that left an impact on you, a man you never knew that you needed in your life until you met him. He shared his heart openly and unconditionally. He was a wonderful friend, son, uncle, brother, grandpa, partner, father but above all he was a HERO. For his final act of service, at the end of his beautiful journey, he selflessly donated his organs to give the gift of life to others. Even in the afterlife he continues to give all that he can. He continues to show us that love has no limits and he will be missed by us all.
Roberto was preceded his death by his parents Hipolito Huerta and Emma Salinas Garza.
His loving memory will live on through his children. His son's; Aaron Garza, Roberto E. Garza Jr. (Yadira), and Joel Garza; daughters, Ashley Garza (Joseph) and Cassandra Garza (Rudy); his brothers; Hipolito (Gloria) Garza, Kingsville, TX, Armando (Sylvia) Garza, Medina, TX; his sisters; Edna (Ben) Figueroa, Kingsville, TX, Yvonne (Don) Aguilar, Lawton, OK, Annette (Mike) Villarreal, Corpus Christi, TX; and his 5 grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. Family, friends, and others whose lives Roberto touched are invited to the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1400 Brookshire Dr. in Kingsville, Tx, on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Those who wish to express sympathy are encouraged to also become organ donors when renewing their driver's license.
