Obituary

Roberto M. Garcia, Sr. was called home on October 12, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born in Driscoll, Texas to his parents Jose and Concepcion Garcia on January 29, 1932.

"Papi" as he was intimately known to his family or "Robe" as many of his friends and relatives called him, was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many.

He first met the love of his life at Wynn Seale Jr. High in Corpus Christi, TX in 1952. On August 27, 1954, he married his wife Emelina Saenz; together they have spent 69 years of marriage and enjoyed a lifetime of happiness. They had five children together, 4 boys and 1 girl. In 1997, he gave his life to the Lord, was baptized at Solid Rock Church, and continued worshipping and serving the Lord until his death.

As we begin to call upon the wonderful memories that he blessed our family with, we are reminded of a true gentleman who loved and provided for his family and who also passed on that strong work ethic to his children. His work ethic was unmatched; as a teenager, he worked as a "Cotton Picker" and as young man, he spent a number of years working as a "Pin-Setter" at the original Ayers Bowling Alley. He then dedicated 25 years with Gates Bakery as a "Baker" where he won the award for the Best Buttercream Icing. Papi went on to retire as a Custodian between Moody & Miller High Schools with the Corpus Christi Independent School District.

He loved working with his hands, planting fruit trees, and maintaining them throughout his lifetime. He always shared the fruits of his labor with his family and friends. Some of the fruits were tangerines, oranges, lemons, and especially grapefruits. He also loved watching westerns, the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, and especially Wrestling. Papi loved to travel with his children every summer and made sure the trip was special and memorable. He will always be remembered for the love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. His love for them was very strong and will be remembered for the rest of their lives.

He is survived by his wife Emelina Saenz Garcia; his children: Robert S. (Esmeralda) Garcia, Jr., David S. (Heather) Garcia, Linda G. (the late Bobby L.) Roberts, Ricardo (Susan) Garcia, Alonzo Garcia; grandchildren: Leslie Perez (Robert), Lindsey Aguirre (Johnny), Larissa Garza (Christopher), Andrew Garcia, David (Angelica) Garcia, Jr., Linda Kim Garcia, Jessica Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Sabrina Juarez (Stephen), Jared Garcia, Alazia Garcia; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 brothers; 4 sisters along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved.

The pallbearers are David Garcia, Jr., Lorenzo Garcia, Jared Garcia, Andrew Garcia, and Louis Perez.

Funeral Services will be private.
