Roberto Medina Barrera, beloved husband, father, firefighter, EMT and friend. Bobby was born on October 25, 1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas, in his family's home on Main Drive and passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026.

His wife Janie Barrera, daughter and son-in law Charli and Michael Columbus, Richard (Gisela-deceased) Barrera, Silvia and Pedro Lopez, Jose and Margaret Barrera, Anna and Tony Segovia, Yolanda and Art Lemaster, Jesus and Halya Barrera.
Early Life
Bobby was raised by his siblings and loving mother, Brenilda Barrera. Growing up, Bobby was intrigued by automobiles. In high school, he took several automotive classes where he would regularly disassemble and reassemble engines. He would frequent the local speedway to see racing legend Don Garlits. After high school, he enrolled in Del Mar College, where he found a passion for welding through their curriculum.
Upon graduating from Del Mar College, Bobby worked as a welder in Ingleside, where he perfected his craft. Bobby welded there for several years, but after being laid off, he found himself wanting something with more financial stability for him and his future family. He applied to the fire academy in Corpus Christi and was accepted, where he went on to have a 30-year career.
Personal Life and Interests
Bobby and his wife Janie shared a beautiful marriage for 39 years. They raised three amazing children together, Richard Allen, Robert Michael and Charli Breanne.
Outside of the fire department, Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family, barbecuing, and working on his metal art. He was best known for his barbecue and beef jerky. Through his metal art, Bobby was able to express his artistic side. He specialized in coastal wildlife, such as fish and birds.
Bobby's favorite pastime was watching action and classic western films. He also enjoyed browsing youtube and social media.
Final Days and Legacy
Bobby spent his final days in his home, surrounded by his loving family and his precious dog, Ozzy. Bobby overcame many obstacles throughout his life and fought until his final day. Bobby's memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he leaves behind. He was a fighter, artist, and a family man.
