DR. ROBERT (Bob) M. POPE, JR., Ph.D, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015. He was born on January 21, 1935 in Charleston, South Carolina. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a former Dean of Business Administration at Del Mar College East Campus.
Bob received his B.S., from the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, M.A., Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana and his Ph.D from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. He authored many articles and journals throughout his professional career as an educator and professor.
Bob was a faithful Clemson Tiger fan. He was quite the birding enthusiast. He traveled the world to log sightings of various bird species. Birding brought much joy to Bob and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Anne Pope, and son, Robert Parks Pope.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dora De La Rosa Pope. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Arthur (Cindy) Cavada, Rose (Michael) Navalta, Debra (Frank) Weikel, Robert (Renee) De La Rosa, Theresa (John) Schena and Yvonne (Bruce) Goulet.
Bob was affectionately called "Grandpa Bob" by many of his step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed. The family will be receiving friends and family at the Church on Wednesday before the Funeral Mass.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church located at 3502 Saratoga Blvd., on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with entombment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
