Obituary

Robert Mendez, age 51, of Odessa, Texas, passed away on July 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Laredo, Tx, raised in Corpus Christi, TX, he spent the last two decades in Odessa, where he built a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. While he made Odessa his home, Corpus Christi was where his heart began — and he came home any chance he got.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather, a caring son, brother, uncle, and a true friend to many. Known for his humility and generosity, he always put others before himself. Whether you knew him for five minutes or five years, he treated you like family. His presence made people feel seen, heard, and valued. He affectionately called himself "2 Chains Rob," always wearing his two signature chains and bringing joy wherever he went. His laugh was contagious — the kind that filled a room and left everyone smiling.

He lived for moments with his family, especially summer river trips and beach days — his absolute favorite. He loved being outdoors, always working on his house, and was known for having the latest and greatest gadgets. Whether it was a speaker, a tool, or something techy, he had it — and knew how to use it. His hands were rarely still, always building, improving, or helping someone else.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Baeza; his children, Ashley Torres (Joshua), Robert "Cody" Mendez, Michael Mendez, and Joanna Mendez; and his grandchildren, Riley Arriola, Rowan Torres, and Ziggy Torres. He also leaves behind his loving mother, Trisy Mendez; his siblings, Jessica Tompkins (Tony), Denise Oliva (Joe), Rick Mendez, and Victoria "Little Sister" Flores (Zac) — his niece who he loved and cherished like a sister; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Mendez, whose memory he carried closely throughout his life.

Rob's legacy is one of joy, loyalty, laughter, and love — the kind that stays with you. He gave selflessly, loved deeply, and will be missed beyond measure.
