Ricky Joe Sorrell was born on to Willie Lloyd Sorrell Sr. and Katherine Sorrell in Corpus Christi, TX
He graduated from Moody High School and shortly thereafter served for 7 years in the United States Army. After serving his country faithfully, he worked for the Corpus Christi Army Depot til death for 33 or more years. His passion in life was basketball. Ricky officiated high school basketball all over south Texas for many years. Served in the capacity of treasurer for a short time. Ricky was best known as a stellar basketball player for CCAD on many teams and leagues. When he was not playing, he was coaching . For 6 years he was a foster parent.
Brother Rick as he was fondly called, was a very passionate man whom loved the Lord. He was in fellowship at Faith Mission Outreach Ministry under Bishop Otis Terrell and more recently, Rising Star Baptist church.
He was preceeded in death by his sister Willie and Mother Katherine Sorrell. He leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life of 31 years his wife Jeannette Sorrell, daughter Monique (Andrew ) Jackson, son Richard Sorrell (Cheyeanne), grand daughter CHANEL Sorrell, father, Willie Lloyd Sorrell Sr. (Ms Edna), brother Willie Lloyd Surrell Jr, brothers Fred Smith and Carl Smith,3 sisters Tena (Marc) Spellman, Evelyn, and Host of Family and friends.
Ricky was a blessing to all who knew him. We loved you dearly and you will be truly missed.
