Richard Allen McCarty, 63, passed away after a chronic illness on February 12, 2017, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on October 22, 1953 to William E. and Frances McCarty. Richard graduated from Mary Carroll High School and worked as an electrician at Kerr-McGee/Southwestern refineries. He earned his CDL license and drove for USA Truck before earning certification to work on aircrafts. He enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR races every chance he had.
He is survived by his wife, Melinda McCarty of San Antonio, his two daughters, Rachal (Mark) Woodward and Mary (Richard) Spaw from his first marriage to Diane H. Kohler, and a grandson, Ryan Spaw of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by his step-sons, Christopher Bain, Sean Cunningham, and Marc Cunningham of San Antonio & Austin, his parents William E. and Frances McCarty of Corpus Christi, his brother Jeffry (Catherine) McCarty of Humble, TX, a loving sister-in-law, "Crickett" McCarty, of Houston, nieces (Amanda Tuggle and Nichole McCarty), and his only nephew (Scott McCarty). He is preceded in death by two brothers, William E. McCarty III and Michael B. McCarty.
Funeral services were held by Guardian Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 5922 Crosstown, Corpus Christi, TX 78417.
