Obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard Herrera, a beacon of kindness and generosity whose life was marked by an unwavering love for his family, friends, and neighbors. Born on December 30, 1955, Richard transitioned peacefully into eternal life on January 1, 2025.

He is survived by his beloved family and countless friends who will remember him for his warmth, generosity, and the joy he brought into their lives. He joins his beloved Mother, Celia Herrera, Father, Juan Herrera, brothers, Guadalupe Herrera and Juan Herrera Jr in the world beyond. He is survived by his daughters, Michelle (the late Javier) Gonzales, Yvonne Herrera (Valerie Peralez), Antoinette (Gary) Silinsky; brother, Ernesto Herrera; his sisters, Beatrice Rocha and Hermelinda Gonzalez; Grandkids, Gary Silinsky, Angelina Gamez, Mikey Silinsky, Ryanna Gonzales, Ethan Gamez, Luke Silinsky and Gunner Silinsky.

Richard was a Construction worker for many years and enjoyed what he did. He was respected for his dedication and hard work. He loved music, he found joy in the tunes of CCR, The Beatles, AC/DC, and many other rock bands and numerous Tejano groups. Richard was a #1 Dallas Cowboys fan. His leisurely hours were often spent reading and feeding birds and squirrels, indulging in literature, or creating treasured memories with his family.

He was renowned for his kindness, generosity and outgoing nature.

Richard's spirit continues to inspire those who were fortunate to know him, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will endure. We will miss his warm presence, big-hearted laughs, and the invaluable lessons he shared. Our hearts are warmed by the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.

Visitation for public will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025 starting at 4:00 p.m. at Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown with a Holy rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at SS Cyril and Methodius Church on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
