IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Reynaldo "Ray"
Madrigal
June 21, 1942 – September 23, 2025
Reynaldo "Ray" Madrigal, age 83, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at 4:55 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Corpus Christi surrounded by his loving family. He was eighty-three years old. Born on June 21, 1942, in Runge, Texas, to Domingo Madrigal and Juanita Arredondo Madrigal, Ray lived a life marked by service, dedication, and an unwavering passion for his community.
Ray proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era (1960-1962), where he developed a love for photography through classes he took while enlisted. This passion led him to establish Ray's Photography Studio, where he became widely known for capturing the most cherished moments of weddings, quinceañeras, and family portraits. His keen eye and artistic touch left a lasting impression on generations of families across Corpus Christi and beyond. Wherever he went, people would approach him with gratitude, recalling the timeless memories he had preserved for them.
Beyond photography, Ray was a man of many talents and a true people person. He was a skilled barber, a dedicated community leader, and a natural conversationalist who made everyone feel welcome. His involvement in organizations such as LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens) Council 1 showcased his commitment to advocacy and leadership. In 1976-1977, he actively participated in local leadership programs, always striving to make a difference.
Even after retiring in 2000, Ray never stopped learning. He pursued higher education at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice, a remarkable achievement later in life. His dedication to public service continued as he took on the role of Municipal Court Judge for the city of Seadrift, Texas, where he upheld fairness and justice in his community.
Ray will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but for his kind and generous spirit. He was a patient and devoted husband, a loving father, and a loyal friend who always put others before himself. He never sought recognition for his acts of kindness—helping others simply came naturally to him.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years of marriage, Gloria Garcia Madrigal; his son, Jakob Madrigal; his stepdaughter, Bianca (Julian) Guardiola; and his adored grandchildren, Bianca Elayne Valenzuela, Hector D. Valenzuela Jr., Isaac Angel Valenzuela, and Jazlyn Guardiola. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, Lilly (Agapito) Sanchez and Feliciano (Elida) Madrigal, along with extended family members and his furry friends (pets), Romeo and Rosie, who brought him great joy.
Ray's legacy of love, service, and artistry will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Services will be private.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Guardian Funeral Home, 5922 Crosstown Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas.
