Reynaldo Cansino Jr., beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle nephew and cherished friend was born in Corpus Christi, TX on April 14, 1971, and entered eternal rest on August 10, 2025, in Aurora, CO. surrounded by the love of his children. Leaving behind a legacy marked by dedication, kindness, service, and an unwavering commitment to God & those he loved.
Rey proudly served in 3 branches of the US Military Navy, Coast Guard and Army. Rey served in the Desert Storm. His service reflected his deep sense of duty and the strong values that guided him throughout his life. Following his military service, he pursued continuing his education and earned degrees in nursing and respiratory therapy. He worked as a health care professional at Christus Spohn, Bay Area and The Post Acute Hospitals here in Corpus Christi and later began a career as a traveling respiratory therapist and worked in Mississippi, Dallas and Colorado.
Rey is preceded in death by his father, Reynaldo H. Cansino Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Albino & Tomasa Cancino; his paternal uncles, Ruben Cancino Sr & Richard Cancino; his maternal grandparents, Henry & Manuela Head Sr., Aguinaldo "Aggie" Low; and his great niece, Zoey Cansino.
He is survived by his mother, Maria Gloria Cansino; his children, Reynaldo (Faith) Cansino III, Justice (Bobbi) Cansino, Hannah Cansino (Dillon) , Javan Cansino & step-daughter, Athena Aguinaga; his grandchildren Avery, Kairi, Korra, Reynaldo IV, Justice Jr., William and Sorra Cansino; his siblings Melinda (Gilbert) Benavidez, Norma Cansino (Debbie, long time friend), Joe Albert (Anna) Cansino, Javier (Berenice) Cansino & Valerie (Melissa) Rodriguez; his nephews and nieces, Gilbert Rey (Gloria) Benavidez, Joe Albert Cansino Jr., Alyssa, Jason, Isabell & Mia Cansino and Christian Greenwood, and countless great-nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Rey raised his children, instilling in them the values of family, faith, and perseverance.
Rey enjoyed traveling, loved listening to music, dancing, spending time with his family and friends, attending concerts and watching Dallas Cowboys & Atlanta Braves games while texting with his son Rey, brothers, Albert, Javi and nephews Gilbert Rey and Albert Jr. He formed lasting friendships. Faith was a central part of Rey's life, and he was a devoted Christian, praising Jesus until the very end.
Rey's family and friends will forever remember his love for his family, his devotion and pride that he had for his children and grandchildren. Rey will also be remembered for his loving gentle spirit and constant presence whenever someone needed him. Rey was quiet but had strength, giving steady guidance, and had a generous spirit that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to invite those that cannot travel to attend his out-of-town funeral service to a celebration of Rey's life on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2pm – 6 pm at Northwest Event Center 9840 Leopard St. Corpus Christi, TX 78410 with a Holy Rosary to start at 2:30pm, led by Deacon Adrian Perez. We would like to thank everyone for your prayers and support during this difficult time. Please continue to keep his children in your prayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rey's name can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
