Reola Griffin, age 79, of Corpus Christi Texas, passed away on Monday May 5th, 2019 at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 12 noon at the Guardian Funeral Home, chapel "A" local Ministers, family & friends officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden.
Reola was born in Forrest City Arkansas to Jack & Hattie Kelley on July 6, 1939. She attended school in Forrest City until the family moved to Corpus Christi. She was Married 3 times, Her first marriage was to Charles Hubbard. That marriage in 1957 yielded three sons; Charles Ray, Ronnie and Robert, the marriage ended in 1967. The second marriage was to Lovell Shane Griffin in 1968 and they were married until his untimely death in 1972. Her last marriage was to DC Estell in 1976, they separated in 1981. She loved cooking and having fun with friends.
Reola was employed by Trinity Tower Senior Living facility for 16 years as the kitchen supervisor, Alameda Oaks Nursing Center for 7 years and Cimarron Senior Estates for 5 years. It was at this last employment she began to show symptoms of Alzheimer, the disease that eventually took her life. It was her family working together to support Ronnie, her son, to care for his mother in dignity and the safety of her home that allowed her to live for approximately 10 years after the diagnosis.
Reola was preceded in death by her mother, Hattie Kelley, Father Jack Kelley, Sister Odessa Askey, brothers Lee Arthur and Vermon Kelley.
Reola is survived by her children: Charles Ray, Ronnie and Robert all there residing Corpus Christi. She has 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Her surviving siblings are: Sister Bobbie James, brother Jack Kelley of Corpus Christi Texas, sister Kelley Jones of Olympia Washington, Sister Janice Grady of Austin, Tx. Sister Olia Smith Katy, Tx, Sister Vernita Johnson of Coppell Tx., and a host of nieces & nephews.
